Raising voice for Doda Forest workers

Dr Darakhshan Andrabi demands implementation of labour laws in the Doda Forest Division
Socialistic Democratic Party President Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today addressed a Press Conference in Jammu loudly raising her voice in favour of the watch and ward staff of the Chinab Basin Forest Project of Doda.  “The watch and ward staff of the significant forest project has been deprived of their earned perks for months and years together by the forest department thus going against their own orders and plans,” said Socialistic Democratic Party President Dr Darakhshan Andrabi. SDP leaders General Secretary Ajay Kumar and State Youth President Gursagar Singh accompanied Dr Darakhshan Andrabi during the Press Briefing along with the Chinab Basin Forest Project Worker’s representatives Nawaz Ahmad and Ram Raj. Dr Darakhshan said that these workers had been rendering their services in different nurseries of the Project for the last many years now but they have not been paid their earnings since months and years together. Dr Andrabi termed this approach as the gross violation of the labour rights which has put these worker’s and their families into grave financial troubles. SDP president expressed her surprise over the non-implementation of the orders issued by the forest authorities regarding the absorption of this ground staff into the Forest Department and regularize their services. “While the department has already absorbed the other regular staff of the Project into the Forest department, the order of absorption in respect of these ground staff was not implemented on the reasons understandable to the common sense,” said Dr Darakhshan. Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that it was a gross injustice on the part of the Project authorities to deprive these poor workers of the wages for so long. SDP President appealed to the Chief Minister to personally look into the matter and issue orders for the redressal of the genuine problems of these small workers on humanitarian grounds.
